BE3I offers environmental assessments of contaminated sites, including a study of the potential risks of contamination and the measures required to remedy them. These assessments are generally carried out during real estate transactions, or when previous activities on a site suggest a risk of contamination.
Phase I of an environmental assessment :
- Historical research that examines all past and present activities.
- Gathering information on potentially polluting activities.
Phase II of an environmental assessment is carried out when Phase I reveals a potential risk of contamination:
- Soil and groundwater sampling,
- Chemical analysis.
- Confirmation of the presence of contaminants and assessment of their concentration and extent.
If contaminants are found, a phase III environmental assessment is carried out:
- exhaustive characterization to determine with greater certainty the limits of contamination and the volumes of contaminated materials present on the site.
- May also include additional studies to assess risks to human health and the environment.
