Environment and remediation of contaminated sites

BE3I offers environmental assessments of contaminated sites, including a study of the potential risks of contamination and the measures required to remedy them. These assessments are generally carried out during real estate transactions, or when previous activities on a site suggest a risk of contamination.

Phase I of an environmental assessment :

  • Historical research that examines all past and present activities.
  • Gathering information on potentially polluting activities.

Phase II of an environmental assessment is carried out when Phase I reveals a potential risk of contamination:

  • Soil and groundwater sampling,
  • Chemical analysis.
  • Confirmation of the presence of contaminants and assessment of their concentration and extent.

If contaminants are found, a phase III environmental assessment is carried out:

  • exhaustive characterization to determine with greater certainty the limits of contamination and the volumes of contaminated materials present on the site.
  • May also include additional studies to assess risks to human health and the environment.

BE3I offers comprehensive expertise in contaminated site remediation. Services include:

  • budget planning
  • liaison with government agencies
  • obtaining certificates of authorization,
  • the use of different rehabilitation methods,
  • work supervision.
